German Shepherds
Kennel Von Kriegerhund
About Kennel Von Kriegerhund!
Kennel von Kriegerhund is a kennel and rescue, owned and operated by Delilah Thorne. Our kennel is small and we only have a few litters a year. However, we strive to breed dogs with the best bloodlines. Our dogs are West German Show line German Shepherds with rich red and black coats.
We have dedicated our lives to preserving the finer qualities of German Shepherds, that we fell in love with many many years ago.
We breed for temperament, drive, health and conformation. We strive to produce dogs with rich, dark coats. Our dogs are health tested, registered and showed in the SIH and SUKC before breeding! We strive for our dogs to excel in conformation and obedience as well as at least one sport such as Agility, Schutzhund, Flyball, Herding, Lure Coursing, etc.
We feed our dogs a mix of kibble and a raw, organic, grass fed, meat diet from local small family farms. We add raw vegetables, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and other superfoods to their diet so they can thrive.
We exercise and train each of our dogs for at least 2 hours per day and are sure to allow for resting every weekend to prevent burnout and ensure that our dogs are healthy.
Dogs between 16 weeks and 6 months attend obedience and introduction to sports classes. They are exposed to many different people, places and animals. We visit a local family farm to desensitize and to learn how to behave appropriately around to livestock as well as training an off-switch.
Prenatal Care
We do not X-Ray our Females during pregnancy. It is a common, commercial practice to X-Ray pregnant females to determine the number of puppies there will be. The practice can increase the risk of cancer at a young age. Humans stopped doing X-Rays for pregnancies because of the increased risk of cancer developing in the child. Dogs have the same response to prenatal radiation exposure.
Puppy Care
We use puppy culture from birth to when the puppies go home which includes early neurological stimulation, aggression prevention, house manners, basic obedience and more. It is scientifically proven to greatly increase the chances of a happy, healthy and obedient dog. Our goal is to set each puppy up for success! It was an amazing decision to add this invaluable tool to our program to further our puppies' development and well-being!
Every day they are held, played with, loved on by my trusted friends and family, and of course myself and my children. They are introduced to new objects, sounds, smells and surfaces every day since birth.
I keep all pups until 12 weeks to ensure they get the proper socialization and desensitization they need to be more well-rounded pups. We begin a foundation for well-trained puppies by manding and luring.
We send our pups home with a collar, leash, blanket with moms scent, two weeks of their current kibble, SIH partial registration, microchip and pedigree chart.
My pups see my vet at 3 days old for a well check. At 5 and 7 weeks they are dewormed. First round of shots and microchipped at 8 weeks of age. I recommend shots every 4 weeks last set around 12-14 weeks and 2 weeks after for rabies.
